Report: In March 2011 the Brahma Kumaris participated in the 14th Book Exhibition and Fair “Books of Russia” organized in Moscow by the General Directorate of International Book Exhibitions and Fairs. The exhibition was held at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre famous for its huge territory of 2,375,000 square metres that accommodates approximately 400 buildings. “Books of Russia” is one of the biggest annual events of the business and cultural life of the country. It is a meeting point for leading actors of the book industry who take this opportunity to present their achievments and make new contracts. The main exponent of the 14th Book Exhibition and Fair were the Republics of the North Caucasus. Their participation in the exhibition was a very important step on the path to reconciliation between Russian and Caucasian people whose relationships have been clouded by a series of military actions in Chechnya and terroristic acts in Moscow and other parts of Russia. The Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications has taken up the task of outreach and awareness-raising among Russian people in order to inspire them to overcome the hostile and fearful feelings and discover the beauty and purity of the Caucasian literature and culture. Undoubtedly this will make a significant contribution to developing tolerance and mutual understanding. The task of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University is the same. All the books published by Brahma Kumaris serve the ideas of restoring kind and respectful relationships between people based on spiritual values and concept of universal brotherhood. The main purpose consists in helping a person to restore his inner peace and live in harmony with the self and others. The titles of the books in Russian "The Art of Positive Thinking", "Thought for Today", "Stress-Free Life" speak by themselves. The main program of the BKWSU organized at the exhibition was the presentation of the new socially important project "I choose to be kind", aimed at developing a culture of benevolence when people make conscious effort to remain kind, respectful, tolerant and polite in any situations and do their best not to be influenced by provocations and not to allow a spark of conflict turn into a huge fire. The first step is being kind to the self, which is actually the basis for further steps: kindness to close people, to society and to the nature. Different forms of promoting and developing this project were suggested as spreading literature, audio and video materials, organizing programs, publishing leaflets, banners, virtue cards etc. One of the forms was realized at the exhibition itself: some personalities were awarded with the Diploma "For Contribution to Developing Benevolent Relationships Between People". Among the honorees were Mr. Filatov S.A., President of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications, writer Bazhenov Georgy, Mrs. Khaimanova I.A., Director of the National Scientific Library of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania and the General Directorate of International Book Exhibitions and Fairs. The light and cheerful song "The Smile" has given to the presentation a special touch of child's innocence reminding of the easiest way of being kind. On this occasion a book "The Unending Wealth: Collection of Virtues" whose author is Didi Sudha, General Director of the BK Centre in Moscow, was also presented to those who were present in the gathering. "The Unending Wealth: Collection of Virtues" gives introduction of the main human virtues and allows discovering the depth of each of them. After the presentation those who wished could buy the book with the autograph and good wishes from the author. In Baba's remembrance B.K. Sudha Moscow moscow@bkivv.org
